Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook
How To Tell Your Story In A Noisy Social World, by Gary Vaynerchuk
Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook is a Gary Vee classic, and although it was published in 2013, the sentiment remains the same and I consider this a useful and insightful read for those looking to learn how to tell stories and communicate authentically across social media.
“The world changes, platforms changes, and we learn to adapt.
But the secret sauce remains the same:
The incredible brand awareness and bottom-line profits achievable through social media marketing require hustle, heart, sincerity, constant engagement, long-term commitment, and most of all, artful and strategic storytelling.”
Same as with reading Crush It!, I purchased this book a long time ago and finally got around to reading it this year.
It only took me a few days to get through — it’s easy to digest, and has a significant amount of mini case studies where Gary Vaynerchuk judges a variety of social posts across platforms and shares his feedback and insights.
I learn best by experience, so I really loved the one page case studies; they helped me get the point on where people/companies go wrong, and how they could have improved and connected with their audience more.
I love listening to Gary and his insights / opinions on his podcast, but having this information in one spot in book form is an amazing resource to have. He runs through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, and also covers opportunities in emerging networks.
Chapter nine is only four pages, but it’s a game changer. Worth buying the entire book just to read this chapter every week and keep the momentum going to fucking crush it!
“Content is king, context is God, and then there’s effort. Together, they are the holy trinity for winning…
Without effort — intense, consistent, committed, 24–7 effort the best social media micro-content placed within the most appropriate context will go down gracelessly…”
Have you read any of Gary’s books? Which one would you recommend?
